3rd Annual Stick it to Sarcoma Get Acrobat Reader

BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women’s lacrosse team will host the third annual “Stick it to Sarcoma” event on Sunday, October 6 in combination with the team’s Blue Jay Invitational. Louisville, George Mason, Rutgers and Team STX will also be participating. Hopkins will take on Louisville, Team STX and Rutgers and the full schedule can be found below.

Admission to the event is $5 and includes a free sarcoma wristband. In addition, there will also be a silent auction as well as a raffle tickets for prizes from Hopkins, the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens, STX and more. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Hopkins Sarcoma Program. The Blue Jays will be raising money in honor of Ned Ballatori, who passed away in December 2011 of angiosarcoma. Ballatori is the father of 2012 graduate Rachel Ballatori, who started the Stick it to Sarcoma Foundation (SITS) to raise money and bring awareness to the disease. To find out more about the Hopkins Sarcoma Program, please click here or to donate to this worthy cause, please click here (be sure to select Stick it to Sarcoma from the drop down menu).

In just two short years, SITS has raised over $32,000 to aid in funding for Sarcoma research. Sarcoma is a malignant tumor of the soft tissues of the body, such as fat, muscles, nerves, tendons, and blood and lymph vessels. Soft tissue sarcomas are uncommon; according to the American Cancer Society about 11,410 new soft tissue sarcomas will be diagnosed in 2013.
