CHICAGO, IL – Johns Hopkins women’s lacrosse freshman midfielder Shelby Harrison has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week it was announced Tuesday afternoon. This is her first career weekly honor from the conference and the first for Hopkins since March 7, 2017.

Harrison totaled 14 draws, one goal, one caused turnover and three ground balls in a 1-1 week for the Blue Jays. She controlled a game-high eight draws, scored a free position goal, caused a turnover and picked up a ground ball in a tough 15-14 loss at Georgetown last Wednesday. Harrison followed that with a six-draw, two-ground ball performance in Hopkins’ 19-0 win over Furman on Saturday.

Harrison leads Hopkins and the Big Ten and is tied for 10th in the nation with 37 draws. She already ranks fifth in school history, all divisions, for draws in a season. She set the school record for draws in a game by a freshman (9) against Loyola and later set the record for draws in a game (11) at Penn.
