Kenul Named to Tewaaraton Award Watch List

NEW YORK, NY – Johns Hopkins women’s lacrosse senior attacker Emily Kenul is has been named to the 2018 Tewaaraton Award Watch List it was announced Thursday night. Kenul is one of 50 women’s players selected to the list.

The lists include the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the 2018 Tewaaraton Award. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.

Kenul, who earned All-Big Ten and IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic honors a year ago, ranks second on the team in goals (13) and draws (14), and is third in points (15), ground balls (8) and caused turnovers (4). She is the Blue Jays’ active career leader in points (144), goals (95), assists (49), draws (116) and caused turnovers (38). She ranks in the top 15 in school Division I history in career points (11th), goals (T-13th), assists (T-8th) and draws (7th).

Players not named to the initial lists have several opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. Watch list additions, if applicable, will be announced on March 22 and April 5. On April 26, the field will be narrowed to 25 men’s and 25 women’s nominees. Nominees can be players on the watch lists or players not on the watch lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions.
