Box Score

BALTIMORE, MD - Seventh-ranked Georgetown used a 4-0 run to open the second half to turn a three-goal lead into a seven-goal lead en route to an 11-6 win Wednesday afternoon at 13th-ranked Johns Hopkins. The loss drops the Blue Jays to 1-1 on the year while the Hoyas move to 2-0. Sophomore Brianna Cronin (Arlington, MA/Arlington) and freshmen Cami Kramer (Vero Beach, FL/Vero Beach) led Hopkins with a pair of goals each.

Leading 6-3 coming out of the half, Ashby Kaestner found Molly Ford open in front of the cage off a restart to push the Hoyas lead to four at 3:37. Just over two minutes later, Megan Bloomer connected with Ford in transition in the arc. Ford quickly turned and flipped the ball just inside the left post to make it an 8-3 game. The pace slowed down from there as the Hoyas nursed their lead.

Kaestner scored her first of the game midway through the second on a behind the cage feed from Ford. Kaestner and Ford connected again with 9:56 to play extending Georgetown's lead to seven at 10-3. Just over two minutes later, Cronin rolled inside her defender on the Georgetown crease and bounced a shot past Caitlin Formby for her second of the season. Cronin's goal ended a 25:11 scoreless streak for the Blue Jays.

Emily Bock got one back for the Hoyas just 28 seconds later. Off a restart at midfield after a Blue Jay foul, Bock went straight to the cage and fired a shot past junior Lizzie O'Ferrall (Baltimore, MD/Mount De Sales) as Georgetown took an 11-4 lead. Cronin found the cage for the second time on the afternoon off a free position shot with 3:47 remaining. Kramer would close out the scoring when she scooped up a loose ball in front of the cage and slipped a shot past Formby with just 41 ticks on the clock.

Hopkins got on the board early as the Blue Jays controlled the draw and freshman Alyssa Kildare (Massapequa Park, NY/Farmingdale) scored on a free position shot just 21 seconds into the game. Ford scored to tie the game at 3:06 with the first of her five on the day. Her goal ignited a 5-0 Hoyas' run, fueled by three assists and one goal from Jordy Kirr. Kramer ended the run with her first career goal with 11:05 to play, making it a 5-2 game. Junior Danielle Ensley (Severna Park, MD/Severna) fed Kramer from behind the cage.

Logan McCraw then took a feed from Kirr and fired one past O'Ferrall to push the lead back to four at 6-2 with 9:24 to play. Freshman Colleen McCaffrey (Mount Sinai, NY/Mount Sinai) answered for the Blue Jays with 2:47 to play. Fouled just outside the arc, McCaffrey rifled a shot over Formby's right shoulder to trim the deficit back to three. That would be Hopkins last goal until Cronin's strike with 7:36 remaining in the second.

Cronin and Kramer were the only multi-goal scorers for the Blue Jays. Ford led the Hoyas with a game-high six points while Jacqueline Giles was the only other Georgetown player with multiple goals. O'Ferrall finished with nine saves, including several point-blank, while Formby posted eight.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, February 28 at eighth-ranked Princeton. Game time from Class of '52 Field is set for 1:00 pm.
