LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins field hockey senior Francesca Cali has been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player of the Week. This is the first career weekly honor for Cali and the first this season for the Blue Jays.
Cali led Hopkins to a 2-0 week with shutout wins over McDaniel (3-0) and Swarthmore (4-0) as the Blue Jays clinched a CC playoff berth for the first time since 2014. In Westminster on Wednesday, she led a JHU defense that allowed just nine shots while also scoring a goal off a penalty corner against the Terror. On Saturday versus the Garnet, she and the Blue Jay defense again surrendered just nine shots in the win.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, October 21 as the Blue Jays take on the Ursinus Bears in Collegeville. Game time is set for Noon at Eleanor Frost Snell Alumnae Field.
