BALTIMORE, MD - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association released the 2007 ZAG/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad this week. Eleven Blue Jays were named to the team which recognizes those collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2007-08 academic year. In addition, Johns Hopkins also earned the team award, which recognizes those institutions that achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2007-08 academic year.

Named to the All-Academic squad were seniors Leah Dudley (Westborough, MA/Westborough) and Megan Maguire (Laurel, MD/Hammond), juniors Leah Horton (Wayne, PA/Upper Merion Area), Meghan Marshall (Scituate, MA/Scituate) and Katie Wong (Los Angeles, CA/Harvard-Westlake), sophomores Brittany Bland (Littleton, CO/Colorado Academy), Catie Farrow (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon), Meaghan Malloy (Amherst, NH/Souhegan), Chantal Serle (Columbus, OH/Columbus Academy) and Andrea Vandersall (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet) and freshman Sydney Greenberg (Longmeadow, MA/Suffield Academy).
 

 

Since 2001, 57 players have earned All-Academic honors from the NFHCA under head coach Megan Callahan Fraser. The team has also earned the team award every year since 2004.

Johns Hopkins posted a 14-6 record in 2007 and advanced to the championship game of the Centennial Conference Tournament. The Blue Jays then earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Hopkins lost 2-1 in the first round at Juniata.
