Box Score

BALTIMORE, MD - Sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins got goals from three different players on Saturday en route to a 3-1 win over visiting Washington College. The Blue Jays take over sole possession of second place in the Centennial Conference with the win and are now 12-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference. The Shorewomen have their eight-game win streak snapped in the loss and are now 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the Centennial.

Johns Hopkins took the early lead just 7:55 in. Junior Andrea Vandersall (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet) dribbled down the left endline and centered the ball to senior Emily Miller (Garden City, NY/Garden City), who backhanded it in for her team-leading 22nd of the season. Senior Adair Landy (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) pushed the Blue Jays lead to two goals at 24:01, when she rifled a hard shot from about 10 yards out in to the top of the cage.

Washington made it a one-goal game just 4:28 into the second half as the Shorewomen capitalized on a penalty corner. Sara Rutkowski took the corner for Washington, sending the ball up to Candace Gaull, who fired a hard shot past junior goalie Sophia Tieu (Cupertino, CA/Cupertino). Hopkins got that one back at 50:19 as the Blue Jays capitalized on a corner of their own. Junior Chantal Serle (Columbus, OH/Columbus Academy) banged home a pass from Miller off the corner for her first of the season.

Tieu finished with four saves in the cage for the Blue Jays, while Nicholoff posted nine saves for the Shorewomen. With three points on the day, Miller now has 47 on the season, just one shy of tying her own program record for points in a season (48, 2007).

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 15 as Franklin & Marshall travels to Baltimore. The Centennial Conference match-up is slated for a 7:00 pm start.
