Box Score

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Junior Jenn Motylinski (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) scored with just 1:43 remaining in regulation to lift the 13th-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team to a 1-0 victory at Washington College Friday night. The win improves the Blue Jays to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the Centennial. The Shorewomen slip to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

After a scoreless first half that saw Hopkins outshot the home team 7-3, Hopkins finally got on the board at 68:17. Freshman Liane Tellier (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) blasted a shot from the top of the circle and Motylinski tipped it past Washington's Elena Nicholoff for her team-leading sixth goal of the season. The assist for Tellier was her first career collegiate point.

Senior Sophia Tieu (Cupertino, CA/Cupertino) finished with a pair of saves in posting her second shutout of the season and ninth of her career. Tieu's two saves give her 237 for her career, pushing her into ninth all-time in program history. Nicholoff, finished with six saves in the loss, while becoming Washington College's all-time career saves leader. She finished the game with 526 saves. Brittany Palasik also had a defensive save for the Shorewomen.

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, October 14 at Franklin & Marshall. Game time in Lancaster, PA is slated for a 7:30 pm start.
