BALTIMORE, MD - The #3 Johns Hopkins field hockey team had its 11-game season-opening win streak snapped on Sunday in a 3-0 loss to #6 TCNJ. The Blue Jays slip to 11-1 on the season while the Lions improve to 8-1 overall. The loss also snapped the Blue Jays 12-game regular season wining streak.

The Lions jumped on top early as Kendra Boyd redirected a pass from Jackie Gelinas at 5:53. TCNJ added to its lead at 19:45. Gabby Cafone dribbled down the left endline and swept the ball into the cage to make it a 2-0 game. In the second, Katie Reuther crossed the ball to Leigh Mitchell, who scored to push the Lions lead to three goals at 46:51.

Junior Sophia Tieu (Cupertino, CA/Cupertino) finished the game with a season-high 11 saves in her first loss of the season. For the Lions, Shannon Syciarz posted six saves for the win.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, Oct.11 as the Washington College Shorewomen visit Homewood Field. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
