Senior Allison Barker (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) finished seventh in the sabre to lead the Johns Hopkins women's fencing team at the NIWFA Christmas Invitational Saturday on the campus of Drew University.
Freshman Kate Dunne (Beacon, NY/Beacon) placed 25th in the sabre, while freshman Ann Kim (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) came in 31st. Angel Tao was 40th, freshman Gloria Vasconcellos (Morganville, NJ/Freehold Township) finished 43rd, and freshman Melissa Ung (Vienna, VA/Oakton) placed 44th.
Junior Christina Giblin (Toronto, Canada/Phillips Exeter Academy) led Hopkins in the foil with a ninth place finish, while freshman Liz Ordun (Montgomery, NJ/Montgomery) placed 12th. Freshman Julia Lawrence (Rye, NY/Rye Country Day School) came in 42nd in the foil, and freshman Kimberley Gibson (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) finished 47th.
The Blue Jays will open their dual meet schedule on January 11-12 when Hopkins competes in the Northwestern Duals in Evanston, IL.
