The Johns Hopkins women's fencing team finished in second place in the National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association Championships held at Temple University last weekend.
The Blue Jays finished behind only the host Owls in the 15-team field. Hopkins placed second in the sabre, fifth in the epee, and third in the foil.
Allison Barker finished second in the sabre, while Sara Walsh placed third and Angel Tao placed ninth. Christina Giblin led the foil squad by finishing fifth, while Sara Barnard finished 10th. Peggy Rechthand, Susan Park, and You-Shan Feng also medaled in the foil. Joy Wu was second in the epee for the Blue Jays.
Phuong Tran was named an Academic All-American at the meet.
