Hoboken, NJ - The Johns Hopkins women's fencing team finished in third place at the NIWFA Championships last Saturday on the campus of Stevens Tech.

Junior Georgiana Lee (Bakersfield, CA/Stockdale) led the Blue Jays in the individual epee competition by finishing in second place and earning all-conference honors, while senior Allison Barker (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) also was named to the all-conference squad after placing fourth in the individual sabre. Additionally, Barker was named an Academic All-American at the championships.

Freshman Liz Ordun (Montgomery, NJ/Montgomery) earned all-conference honors by finishing eighth in the individual foil, while junior Christina Giblin (Toronto, Canada/Phillips Exeter Academy) placed ninth.

In the team competitions, Hopkins finished third in the foil and sixth in both the epee and sabre. Temple won the three weapon combined team championship for the sixth straight year, followed by Tufts and the Blue Jays.

Hopkins will compete in the NCAA Regional Championships this Saturday in State College, PA, on the campus of Penn State University. Competition begins at 8 a.m.
