JERSEY CITY, NJ - Johns Hopkins sophomores Jackie Heath and Katherine Simeon took home gold at the 2011 National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association Christmas Invitational on December 4. In addition, freshman Gianna Puzzo claimed silver, while senior Colleen Stone also had a top-10 finish.

Heath wins her second straight Foil title from the annual NIWFA Christmas Invitational as she went 25-3 on the day to win gold. She is now 43-5 on the year and 138-40 for her career. It marks the third straight year that Hopkins has won the title as senior Marion Trumbull won in 2009. Stone went 15-9 on the day for a career-best sixth place finish. In the Epee, Puzzo posted a 20-5 record to finish in second place and improve her record this season to 37-2.

Simeon becomes the first Hopkins fencer to win the Sabre title at the NIWFA Christmas Invitational. She finished with a 23-1 record on the day and is now 39-5 on the season and 133-50 for her career. Freshman Sarah Hewes went 7-8 to finish in 23rd place and is now 9-13 for the season. While senior Jenny Lenz went 1-4 to finish in 33rd place. She is now 5-7 this season and 19-35 for her career.
