Senior Christina Giblin (Toronto, Canada/Phillips Exeter Academy) placed eighth in the foil to lead the Johns Hopkins women's fencing team as the Blue Jays opened their season at the Temple Open Saturday.
Senior Susan Park (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven) finished 28th in the foil, while sophomore Liz Ordun (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) was 31st and freshman Joanna Kochaniak (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) came in 33rd. Kerry Xie placed 51st, freshman Catherine Chen (Cupertino, CA/Monta Vista) was 67th, and freshman Samantha Wang (Fremont, CA/Lynbrook) placed 69th.

Georgiana Lee (Bakersfield, CA/Stockdale) finished 22nd in the sabre, while sophomore
Kate Dunne (Beacon, NY/Beacon) came in 29th. Freshman
Sarah Smilow (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown) placed 32nd, and sophomore
Julia Lawrence (Rye, NY/Rye Country Day School) came in 37th. Freshman
Kimberly Strazdas (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) was 42nd, freshman
Rachel Sussman (Lighthouse Point, FL/Spanish River) was 47th, and sophomore
Ann Kim (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) placed 57th.
Janani Ramprasad led the Blue Jays in the epee by finishing 28th, while junior Caroline Grey (Tiburon, CA/San Francisco University) was 37th and sophomore Laura Briskin (Baltimore, MD/The Bryn Mawr School) placed 38th. Sophomore Jeannette Alvarez (Pomona, NY/Immaculate Heart Academy) finished 52nd, sophomore Cathy Gallagher (Lexington Park, MD/Great Mills) was 55th, sophomore Alexia Robinson (Bronx, NY/Fieldston) was 61st, and freshman Allisandra Wen (Houston, TX/The Kinkaid School) placed 62nd.
The Blue Jays return to action on Sunday, November 23, when they compete at the Penn State Open in State College, PA.
