Senior Allison Barker (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) finished in eighth place in the sabre finals to lead the Johns Hopkins women's fencing team at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional Championships held Saturday on the campus of Penn State University.
Barker will be a candidate from the Mid-Atlantic/South Region for an at-large spot in the NCAA Finals, held on March 20-23 at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.
Junior Georgiana Lee (Bakersfield, CA/Stockdale) finished 11th while advancing to the epee finals, and sophomore Caroline Grey (Tiburon, CA/San Francisco University) placed 21st after being eliminated in the second round of preliminaries.
Junior Christina Giblin (Toronto, Canada/Phillips Exeter Academy) advanced to the second round of preliminary action and finished 17th in the foil, while freshman Liz Ordun (Montgomery, NJ/Montgomery) was eliminated in the opening round and placed 23rd.
