HOBOKEN, NJ - Johns Hopkins sophomore Katherine Simeon went 15-2 at the 2012 Eastern Women's Fencing Conference (EWFC) Individual Championship to take home Sabre Fencer of the Year honors. In addition, five Blue Jays earned all-conference honors based on their finish at the championship.

Simeon becomes the first Blue Jay to earn EWFC Sabre Fencer of the Year honors. She finished fourth last year as a freshman and earned first team all-conference honors. Classmate Kathleen Rand joined Simeon on the all-conference team, earning first team honors after going 15-2 as well and finishing in third place. Freshman Sarah Hewes posted a 5-12 record to finish in 14th place.

In the Foil, senior Jen Hession finished in fourth place with an 11-4 record and earned First Team All-EWFC accolades. It is her third turn on the all-conference team and she was the 2009 Foil Fencer of the Year. Hession also hit a milestone on the day, as her final win of the championship was the 150th of her career. Classmate Colleen Stone garnered second team honors after going 8-7 to finish in ninth place. She also earned her 150th career win and is making her second appearance on the all-conference team.

In the Epee, sophomore Liz Caris was named to the first team with a 13-4 record and a fourth-place finish. She joined Hession and Stone in the milestone department, winning her 100th career bout. Freshman Gianna Puzzo was named to the second team with a 12-5 record and a seventh-place finish.
