Sharon Betz, Barbara Kiviat, and Dawn Waters, all members of the 2001 Johns Hopkins women's rowing team, were named to the 2001 USRowing Collegiate Honor Roll First Team, the organization announced Wednesday.
Betz (Bedford, MA/Bedford) is currently a junior at Hopkins and Waters (Port Lavaca, TX/Calhoun) is a senior, while Kiviat (Salisbury, MD/Parkside) graduated in May 2001.
The honor roll recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in both academics and rowing, as well as participated in extra curricular activities. Applicants must be USRowing members, have rowed or coxed in a men's or women's priority open or lightweight boat that raced at a league championship, have completed four semesters or six quarters of academic work, and have earned a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Hopkins opens its 2002 season on March 23 when the Blue Jays compete at the Aiken County Spring Regatta in Langley, SC.
