LORTON, VA - The Johns Hopkins women's crew team put on a strong showing at the 2009 Mid Atlantic Collegiate Crew Championships on Sunday. The varsity pair and the varsity heavy four each took home gold in their respective events.

The varsity pair crew of seniors Rebecca Williamson (Burlington, Ontario/Hillfield Strathallan) and Vanessa Damm (Riverside, CT/Greenwich) took first with a finals time of 9:18.5000, finishing ahead of Loyola and Old Dominion. The varsity heavy four took first with a time of 8:17.2000. Sophomore Beth Simmonds (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) served as the coxswain while sophomore Pia Heilmann (Coppell, TX/Phillips Academy Andover (MA)) sat stroke. Senior Amelia Whitman (Galesville, MD) was in the three seat, with junior Uejin Kim (Houston, TX/Stratford) in the two seat and freshman Elizabeth Carr (Wellesley, MA/Wellesley) in the bow.

The Hopkins crew team will compete for the final time at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, PA on Friday, May 8.
