Blue Jay Crew Teams Compete At Occoquan Sprints April 22, 2002
Lorton, VA - Johns Hopkins finished third and fifth in the varsity men's pairs final as the Blue Jays' men's and women's crew teams competed in the Occoquan Sprints Saturday. LaSalle took the men's pairs race in 7:12.00 and was followed by Richard Stockton, which finished in 7:29.30. The Hopkins "B" placed third in 7:36.80, Case Western Reserve took fourth in 7:50.20, and the JHU "A" team was fifth in 7:50.40. The Blue Jays' men's novice eight finished sixth in its heat in 7:07.60, behind North Carolina (6:28.50), William & Mary (6:39.10), Carnegie Mellon (6:46.90), Penn State (7:03.00), and Mary Washington (7:05.50). In women's action, the JHU junior varsity eight finished fourth in 7:37.90. George Washington won the race in 6:59.10, followed by Drexel (7:05.10), Mary Washington (7:35.80), Hopkins, and Susquehanna (7:58.20). The women's varsity eight finished fifth in its heat in 7:11.80, and then rowed back to the start of the course for the petite final. Hopkins placed fourth in the petite final in 7:20.90, behind Loyola (7:09.60), Bryn Mawr (7:12.00), and William & Mary (7:17.70). Women's Junior Varsity Eight - Final 1.
