LORTON, VA - The Johns Hopkins women's crew team competed at the Occoquan Sprints on Sunday, with the varsity eight taking fifth in the final.
In the Varsity Eight, sophomore Beth Simmonds (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) served as coxswain while senior Vanessa Damm (Riverside, CT/Greenwich) sat stroke. Senior Rebecca Williamson (Burlington, Ontario/Hillfield Strathallan) sat in the seven seat, with freshman Elizabeth Carr (Wellesley, MA/Wellesley) in the six seat and sophomore Pia Heilmann (Coppell, TX/Phillips Academy Andover (MA)) in the five seat. Junior Uejin Kim (Houston, TX/Stratford) sat in the four seat, with senior Amelia Whitman (Galesville, MD) in the three seat, senior Madison West (New Britain, CT/Hotchkiss) in the two seat and freshman Adali Martinez (San Diego, CA/San Diego High School of International Studies) was in the bow.
Hopkins returns to action on Friday, April 10 as the Blue Jays travel to Camden, NJ for the Knecht Cup.
