Hopkins Finishes Second at Casperson Cup

BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's and women's crew teams hosted the Casperson Cup on Saturday April 1 on the Patapsco River. In addition to the Blue Jays, Washington College and St. Johns College also competed. The Blue Jays finished second with 50 points behind Washington with 53. St. Johns College finished with 22 points. Weather conditions were a strong cross-wind throughout the entire regatta.
The Blue Jays started with a win in the Varsity Four with a time of 7:17.2 Washington College finished in second with a time of 7:25.4. St. Johns finished third in 8:12.0. Washington went on to win the final three events to take first place in the Casperson Cup. In the Novice Eight, Hopkins finished second with a time of 7:12.7. In the Varsity Eight (6:42.8) and the Novice Four (7:29.9) the Blue Jays also finished second.
The Blue Jays raced in the Occoquan Sprints in Lorton, VA on Sunday, April 2. Hopkins returns to Baltimore on Saturday April 15 for the JHU Invitational.
