Blue Jays Tie For First Place At Caspersen Cup April 3, 2002
Chestertown, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's crew team won all four of its races and the women's team finished second in two races as the Blue Jays finished tied for first place with Washington College at the Caspersen Cup. The Blue Jays and the Shoremen both finished with 41 points, while St. John's (MD) College totaled 22 in the regatta, which was held Saturday on the Chester River. Hopkins has now won the cup twice and tied for the cup twice over the past four years. Hopkins won the Men's Lightweight Four with a time of 7:27, while the Men's Varsity Four finished in 7:14.39 to win its race. The JHU Novice Four won with a time of 9:01.66, and the Men's Varsity Eight capped the perfect day by winning in 7:30. The JHU Women's Varsity Eight finished second in 8:48 behind a strong Washington team, while the Junior Varsity Eight placed second in 9:16. Both Hopkins crew teams return to action on Sunday, April 7, to compete in the Occoquan Springs in Lorton, VA. Women's Novice Four 1. Washington - 8:01 2. St. John's - 8:12-30-
