BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's crew team finished second at the annual Caspersen Cup on Saturday with 28 points. Washington College won the Caspersen Cup with 35 points, while St. John's took third with 25 points.
The Blue Jays finished second in both the Women's Varsity Eight (7:40.85) and the Varsity Four (8:22.72). In the Varsity Eight race, sophomore Beth Simmonds (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) served as coxswain while senior Vanessa Damm (Riverside, CT/Greenwich) sat stroke. Senior Rebecca Williamson (Burlington, Ontario/Hillfield Strathallan) sat in the seven seat, with freshman Elizabeth Carr (Wellesley, MA/Wellesley) sat in the six seat and sophomore Pia Heilmann (Coppell, TX/Phillips Academy Andover (MA)) sat in the five seat. Junior Uejin Kim (Houston, TX/Stratford) sat in the four seat, with senior Amelia Whitman (Galesville, MD) in the three seat, senior Madison West (New Britain, CT/Hotchkiss) in the two seat and freshman Adali Martinez (San Diego, CA/San Diego High School of International Studies) was in the bow. In the Varsity Four, Simmonds served as the coxswain and Damm sat stroke. Kim sat in the three seat, West sat in the two seat and Whitman was in the bow.
Hopkins returns to action on April 5 with the Occoquan Sprints in Lorton, VA.
