PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Johns Hopkins crew team opened the spring portion of its schedule at the Murphy Cup last weekend. The Blue Jays will next compete at the Caspersen Cup on Saturday in Chestertown, MD.

The varsity four finished fourth in their heat with a time of 6:35.40. Sophomore Helena Cortes (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale), sophomore Katie Blumer (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater Area), senior Laura DeMare (West Bloomfield, MI/West Bloomfield), sophomore Allison Hoy (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) and sophomore Rebecca Williamson (Burlington, Ontario/Hillfield Strathallan) crewed the varsity four boat.

The novice eight took fourth in their heat with a time of 6:47.18. In the novice eight boat were freshman Michelle Lai (Vancouver, BC/Crofton House School), sophomore Madison West (New Britain, CT/Hotchkiss), freshman Allison Carlstrom (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge), freshman Ue Jin Kim (Houston, TX/Stratford), sophomore Courtney Cunningham (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel), freshman Nicole Lake (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury), sophomore Amelia Whitman (Galesville, MD), freshman Dayna Gordon (Houston, TX/Middle College for Technology) and Jenna Rossoff (Morristown, NJ/Morristown).
