BALTIMORE, MD - Johns Hopkins women's basketball senior Chantel Mattiola has been named to the d3hoops.com Mid-Atlantic All-Region third team, as announced Tuesday afternoon. Mattiola is the fourth all-region selection for the Blue Jays.

Mattiola earned her first all-region honors after an impressive final season for the Blue Jays. Earlier this season, the senior guard was named to the All-Centennial Conference First Team for the second-straight year. Mattiola became the all-time leader in three-pointers with 153 on her career. This season, Mattiola knocked down 53 to lead the Blue Jays. Mattiola averaged 12.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.1 steals per game this season. The senior guard ranked 10th in the conference in scoring and led the league in assist/turnover ratio (1.8). She was second in the conference with an 86.1% clip from the free throw line (87-for-101). Mattiola set a new career free throw shooting record for the Blue Jays, finishing her four years in a Hopkins' uniform shooting 86.3 percent from the free throw line.

The Blue Jays finished the 2011-12 campaign with an overall record of 24-5 while advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Hopkins set a school record for defense, holding opponents to just 49.7 points per game.
