Week in Review:
Hopkins went 2-1 last week, picking up big wins over Notre Dame and Swarthmore. The Blue Jays started their week with an 89-57 victory over the Gators. Hopkins was led by senior Andrea Dodrill who poured in a season-high 18 points. Hopkins suffered a set-back on Thursday night falling to Muhlenberg, 67-52. Junior Kristin Phillips posted a double-double in that contest with 11 points and 13 rebounds. The Blue Jays bounced back on Saturday, defeating the Garnet of Swarthmore by a score of 88-65. Freshman Lyndsay Burton scored a career-high 17 points in that contest.
Planning for the Week Ahead:
Hopkins opened its week with a 71-47 loss at St. Mary's on Monday. In that contest, the Blue Jays fell in an early hole they could not get out of. Lyndsay Burton was the only Blue Jay in double figures with her second double-double of the year (11 pts., 10 rebounds).
Hopkins will look to bounce back on Thursday night when it hosts McDaniel College. McDaniel leads the all-time series between the two schools 33-28. The two squads split their meetings last year with Hopkins giving McDaniel its only conference loss by a 66-60 mark in Westminster.
The Blue Jays will round out the week by hosting Dickinson on Saturday. Hopkins leads the all-time series with the Red Devils by a count of 33-20. Hopkins dropped a tough 68-65 decision to Dickinson earlier this season in Carlisle.
Offensive Boards:
Hopkins enters this week leading the Centennial Conference in offensive rebounds. The Blue Jays have pulled down 275 offensive rebounds and are averaging three more offensive rebounds per game then any other team in the Centennial. The Blue Jays' inside trio of Andrea Dodrill, Kristin Phillips and Lyndsay Burton are all ranked in the top ten in the conference in offensive rebounds. Dodrill is second (4.57 per game), Phillips is third (3.64 per game) while Burton is tied for ninth (2.57 per game).
I'm Honored:
Senior Andrea Dodrill was named to the Centennial Conference Honor Roll on Monday for her performance in three games last week. Dodrill averaged 13 points and nine rebounds in the three games. She scored a season-high 18 points against Notre Dame, followed that up with 12 rebounds against Muhlenberg. Dodrill closed out her week by scoring 18 points at Swarthmore with 16 of her 18 points coming in the second half of that contest.
Sinking Her Shot:
Freshman Lyndsay Burton has made an immediate impact on the Blue Jay offense. Burton is leading both the team and the Centennial Conference in field goal percentage. Burton has made 59 of her 106 shots this season for a mark of 55.7%.
Swipe that Ball Away:
Two of the top teams in the Centennial Conference in steals will meet on Saturday. Dickinson leads the league with 214 and is averaging 15.29 steals per game. Hopkins is ranked fourth with 151, averaging 10.79 per game. When the two teams met in December they combined for 25 in the game. Dickinson has nine players with 10+ steals on the season. Hopkins has six players with 10+ steals on the season. Hopkins is led by Andrea Dodrill with 27 while Lyndsay Burton has 25.
