BRYN MAWR, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team recorded a 49-35 victory over Bryn Mawr on Wednesday night in Pennsylvania. The Blue Jays (11-12, 9-8 CC) received a double-double from senior Andrea Dodrill in route to snapping a two-game losing streak.

Bryn Mawr jumped on top of Hopkins early, taking a 5-2 lead with 16:53 to play in the first half. Katie Driscoll's three-pointer would be the last basket recorded by the Owls until there was 5:42 remaining in the first half. During that stretch, Hopkins went on a 14-0 run to open up a 16-5 lead. Junior Kristin Phillips knocked down seven points for the Blue Jays during that stretch including a 4-for-4 performance from the free throw line. Dodrill also had four points during the run for Hopkins. Bryn Mawr closed out the half on a 10-2 run. Emilie Naccarato had five points for the Owls including a big three in the final minute to send Bryn Mawr into the locker room trailing 18-15.

Hopkins scored the first four points of the second half to extend its lead to seven. The two teams traded baskets over the next couple of minutes before a jumper by Shanika Bridges-King at 12:56 made it a 26-21 game. That would be as close as the Owls would get the remainder of the game. Freshman Lyndsay Burton converted a traditional three-point play at 12:01. That triggered a 12-2 run from the Blue Jays that helped them open up a 38-23 lead with 6:27 to play. Junior Caitlin Sloane contributed five points for the Blue Jays during that stretch. The two teams traded baskets over the next several minutes before a lay-up by sophomore Anastasia Wynn at 2:45 gave the Blue Jays their largest lead of the game at 17 points. Bryn Mawr hit the final two buckets of the game to make it 49-36.
 

 

Dodrill led the Blue Jays with 10 points and 11 rebounds on the night for her seventh double-double of the season. Phillips finished with nine points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Monica Mitchell also grabbed eight rebounds for the Blue Jays.

Driscoll led the Owls with 12 points while Naccarato had nine. Bridges-King and Caroline Heffernan tied for the team lead in rebounds with nine.

Hopkins concludes its season on Saturday, February 23 by hosting Washington College. Game time at Goldfarb Gymnasium is set for 1 p.m., the Blue Jays will honor their lone senior Dodrill prior to the game.
