Grant Johnson enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach for the US Coast Guard's mens team.

Johnson, a 2008 graduate of the Academy, finished his career with the Bears with 1137 points which ranks him 10th all-time at Coast Guard as he is one of 18 players in Coast Guard history with 1,000 career points. He holds the single-season school record with 83 three-point baskets in the 2006-'07 season, is second all-time at the Academy with 244 three-point baskets and third all time with 305 assists as he played in a school-record tying 109 career games. Johnson was a starting guard and captain during his junior and senior seasons in which both teams won the NEWMAC tournament and advanced to the NCAA tournament – reaching the Elite Eight his senior season for the first time in school history.
