BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men’s and women’s cross country teams will head to Central Pennsylvania Saturday to compete in the 2015 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships. The meet is being hosted by Dickinson University at Big Spring HS in Newville, PA.

The top-ranked Hopkins women will get the event started with a 6,000m race at 11:00am, while the 22nd-ranked men’s team will compete in a 8,000m race at 12:30pm.

The top two teams in each race will receive an automatic qualification to next weekend’s NCAA Championships in Wisconsin. Teams which finish below second will be pooled with squads from the other seven regions, where a committee will then select 16 at-large bids.

JHU’s women’s squad will be led by Sophia Meehan, Hannah Oneda, Tess Meehan and Courtney Kelly and Caroline Smith. Caroline Powers and Tasha Freed round out the Blue Jays’ projected lineup. Sophia Meehan won the individual title at the regional last year, making her the third Johns Hopkins runner to win an individual crown. Tess Meehan was recently named the Centennial Conference’s Runner of the Year after winning the Centennial Conference meet on October 31. Hopkins has won the last seven NCAA Mideast Regional titles.

Sophomore Louis Levine, fresh off a fourth-place finish at the CC meet, will lead the men’s squad. Levine will be joined by teammates Ryan Schwartz, Brandon Fielder, Ollie Hickson, Stefan Arnold, Doran Walsten and Akshay Alaghatta. The Hopkins men, currently ranked #3 in the region, are looking to earn a bid to the NCAA Championships for the fifth-consecutive season.

Results will be posted here following each race and a full recap will be posted to Saturday afternoon.
