The Johns Hopkins men's cross country team touched down in sunny Orlando, Fla. this afternoon. The Blue Jays will compete in the Disney Classic on Saturday morning at the Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.
Junior David Sigmon (Big Harbor, WA/Peninsula) is preparing for his second Disney Classic, after competing in the event in 2006. Sigmon took time to check in with HopkinsSports.com to give fans the inside scoop on the team's trip.
Friday Night
I am coming to you from a pretty sweet upscale house we are staying in, instead of a hotel here. It is a big open house where everyone has their own beds and all the rooms have TV's. But as sweet as all that stuff is, the race is obviously why we're taking the time to come down here.
We scoped out the course today, still as flat and fast as it was two years ago, but it has been raining a lot today, so the course is a little washed out. The rain will only wash away more of the soft stuff and as long as the course isn't completely washed out, footing should be as stable as could be expected.
We went out for dinner and we went to CiCis All You Can Eat Pizza Buffet and now I'm stuffed beyond belief, but that's the price you pay.
Now it's time to sleep up and get after it tomorrow.
