LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins earned a pair of first-place votes and grabbed 57 total points to come in second in the Centennial Conference Preseason Men’s Cross Country Poll of the league’s coaches it was announced today. Defending Champion Haverford topped the poll with seven first-place votes and 63 total points.
The Blue Jays finished just six points behind the Fords for the top spot, while Dickinson came in just six points behind Hopkins with 51 points. Swarthmore (42 points) and Muhlenberg (34) rounded out the top five.
JHU was edged by Haverford in the conference meet last season, as the Fords came away with a nine-point victory, which was the second smallest in the history of the conference. Hopkins avenged the loss at the NCAA Regionals, defeating Haverford by one point, and at the NCAA Championships, where the Blue Jays placed 10 spots higher than the Fords with a program-best eighth-place finish.
The Blue Jays will open the season on September 1 at the Baltimore Metro at 6:30 pm.
