CARLISLE, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's cross country team took third in the Dickinson Long/Short Invite. Sophomore Steve Tobochnik ran with the lead pack before Bryan Beegle (Shippensburg) and Brian Krusell (Dickinson) pulled away in the final 200 meters.

Freshman Brian Rooney ran a consistent race in the 8.1k, running between 10th and 15th place for the length of the race. Rooney took 13th place.

Senior Geoff Nunns lingered around the top 30 runners with less than two miles to go, but surged late, passing more than 10 runners, to finish 17th.

In the 4k race, junior David Sigmon finished in 12th place in a time of 12:34.72. Sigmon returned an impressive finish after losing his shoe in the middle of the course because of a collision with another runner.

The Blue Jays finished third overall with 88 combined points from the 4k and 6k races. Hopkins finished behind Dickinson College (47 pts), which is currently fourth in the Mideast Region and Carnegie Mellon (51 pts), which is currently ranked first in the Mideast Region Poll.

The Blue Jays will compete in the William & Mary Invitational next Saturday, September 27.
