BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins wrestling team will open the 2013-14 season this weekend as the Blue Jays will compete at the Messiah Invitational (Nov. 2) and at the University of Maryland (Nov. 3). Johns Hopkins posted a 9-10 record, including a 6-2 mark in the Centennial Conference, and placed second at the Centennial Conference Championships and 21st at the NCAA Championships last season.

Under the guidance of head coach Keith Norris, the Blue Jays will carry several impressive rankings into the season. The Blue Jays tied for second in the Centennial Conference Preseason Coaches Poll and check in at #29 in the Brute-NWCA Division III Preseason Poll.

In addition to the above rankings, several Johns Hopkins wrestlers have drawn preseason attention from the NWCA and d3wrestle.com.

Junior Paul Bewak, who posted a 34-6 record last season, is ranked fourth at 125 by the NWCA and sixth by d3wrestle.com. Bewak has two Centennial Conference titles and two trips to the NCAA Tournament on his resume.
