Four JHU Wrestlers Ranked Among Nation's Top 10

Preseason d3wrestle.com Individual Rankings BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins wrestling team is well represented in the initial D3wrestle.com individual rankings for the 2012-13 season. Four Blue Jays earned top 10 rankings, while another is among those listed just outside the top 10 in his weight class.
Leading the way for the Blue Jays is sophomore Paul Bewak, who is ranked fourth at 125 pounds. Bewak posted a 30-9 record as a freshman last season en route to earning All-America honors at the NCAA Championships with a seventh-place finish. He won the Centennial Conference title, led the team with eight pins and his seventh-place finish is the highest ever for a Johns Hopkins wrestler at the NCAAs.P> Senior Reid Mosquera, a two-time NCAA qualifier and two-time Centennial Conference champion, checks in at number five in the preseason rankings at 197. Mosquera also earned All-America honors last season with an eighth-place finish at the NCAAs and posted a 16-5 record a year ago. He boasts a career record of 55-25.P> Junior Henry Stauber earned a number eight preseason ranking at 149 after winning the Centennial Conference title at that weight class last season. Entering the tournament as the number four seed, he upset the top two seeds to win the tournament and earn his way to the NCAA Championships for the first time in his career. He finished the season with a 15-11 record.P> Senior Paul Marcello returns for his final season with three Centennial Conference titles to his credit and he opens the season ranked ninth at 141. The only three-time Centennial champion and three-time NCAA qualifier in school history, Marcello posted a 22-5 record last season and enters this season with a 47-19 career record. He is looking to become just the seventh wrestler in Centennial history to win four individual conference titles.P> Rounding out JHU's preseason honorees is junior 133-pounder Ray Yagloski. Yagloski posted a 15-7 record last season and was undefeated in Centennial Conference dual-meet action (4-0) before an injury cut short his season. Still, he grabbed recognition in the Honorable Mention category of the d3wrestle.com rankings.P> Johns Hopkins won its first-ever Centennial Conference team championship last season and will open the 2012-13 season on Saturday, November 3 when the Blue Jays compete in the Messiah Invitational.P> - 30 -
