COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Johns Hopkins wrestling team opened the 2011-12 season at Maryland's Terrapin Duals on Sunday as the Blue Jays competed against four Division I opponents. The highlight of the day for Hopkins was a come-from-behind 18-16 victory against Franklin & Marshall that saw the Blue Jays take the final three bouts to claim the victory over the Diplomats.

After opening the day with loses to West Virginia and Maryland, the Blue Jays took on the Diplomats in what figured to be the closest match of the day. Freshman Paul Bewak scored a 1-0 victory at 125 and sophomore Ray Yagloski added an 8-4 win at 133 to stake the Blue Jays to an early 6-0 lead.

The Diplomats won four of the next five bouts to take a 16-9 lead, but Hopkins grabbed narrow wins at 184, 197 and 285 to score the upset. A 6-3 win by Ben Finelli at 184 was followed by a 6-5 win by junior Reid Mosquera at 197. Senior Rick Danilkowicz then secured the win for the Blue Jays when he edged Alex Henry, 6-4, at 285.

Johns Hopkins will return to action on Saturday, November 12 when the Blue Jays compete in the Wrestle for a Cure Duals in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. There, Johns Hopkins will take on American International, York (PA), and Ithaca. Ithaca is ranked fourth in the NWCA rankings, while York checks in at number 10. Johns Hopkins is ranked 30th in the same poll.
