ROCKY M0UNT, VA - Johns Hopkins senior Jared Forman closed out his career with the Johns Hopkins wrestling team by earning a fifth-place finish at the 2017 NCAA East Regional Championships on Saturday, Forman won two of his three matches on Saturday's second day of competition to earn his fifth-place showing.
Forman had posted a 2-1 record on Friday to advance to Saturday's consolation quarterfinals, where he drew Corey Markovitch of Ursinus. Forman topped Markovitch for the second time this season to move into the consolation semifinals, where he fell to NYU's John Messinger. Messinger went on to place third and Forman's two losses in the tournament were to the eventual third and fourth-place finishers..
Down to the final bout of his career, Forman was matched with Gettysburg's Daniel Ebert, who he had topped in the Centennial Championship match two weeks ago. Forman, who picked up the 75th win of his career with the earlier win against Markovitch, topped Ebert, 6-2, to earn his fifth-place finish and close his final season with a record of 27-14.
Forman's efforts helped Johns Hopkins total 15.5 points at the championship and the Blue Jays finished 15th in the 19-team field.
