BALTIMORE, MD - Gettysburg College won the final four matches of the night to record a 27-15 win over the Johns Hopkins wrestling team on Thursday night in Goldfarb Gymnasium. The Blue Jays fall to 2-8, 0-1 in the Centennial while the Bullets improve to 2-2-1, 1-1 in Centennial action.

The Blue Jays started the night strong winning the first two matches at 184-pounds and 197. Junior Eric Fishel pinned Dean Staley in 5:55 to give Hopkins the early lead. Sophomore Tyler Schmidt gave the home team a 9-0 lead, with a 10-4 decision over John Leinberger. The Bullets got their first points of the night at 285-pounds as Mike Pattanite picked up an 8-3 decision over Vincent Domestico.

There was no match at 125-pounds and Gettysburg picked up the win at 133 on a forfeit to tie the score at 9-9. Senior Marco Priolo, wrestling in the final home match of his career, gave Hopkins the lead back at 141-pounds as he recorded a pin in 59 seconds.

Gettysburg took control the rest of the way in the match, tying the score on a Matt Shank pin over James Gettinger at 149-pounds. The Bullets followed that up with decision by Andrew Goldstein and Patrick Doherty at 157 and 165-pounds, respectively. James Stevenson of Gettysburg closed out the match at 174-pounds with a pin over Pete Kavanagh in 2:06.

Hopkins returns to action next on Saturday when the Blue Jays take part in the Washington & Lee Invitational. The grapplers will take to the mat with action set to begin at 10 a.m.
