COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The Johns Hopkins wrestling team went 0-4 at the North/South Duals hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday. Senior Eric Fishel (Owings Mills, MD/Owings Mills) went 3-1 on the day to improve to 16-4 on the season.

Against Wesleyan, Hopkins dropped the first two weight classes before Ben Kauffman (Phoenix, AZ/Sandra Day O'Connor) gave the Blue Jays a win at 141-pounds. Patrick Stanley (Isle of Palms, SC/Bishop England) recorded a victory at 165-pounds with an 11-8 decision. Hopkins got back-to-back wins at 184 and 197-pounds as Fishel and Tyler Schmidt (Richmond, VA/St. Christopher's) picked up wins by major decisions. Fishel's victory was an 11-0 decision over Alex Segal while Schmidt recorded his victory 8-0 over John Gottfield. Wesleyan recorded the victory at 285-pounds to wrap up the match.

Hopkins fell to Wisconsin La-Crosse by a score of 49-0, dropping all of the weight classes in the match.

Hopkins faced a tough test against #20 Wilkes in the third round. Wilkes recorded victories in the first six matches before Stanley improved to 2-0 on the day with a major decision victory over Richard Pelligrini, 11-3. Fishel posted another victory with a 9-2 win over Colin Nagy at 184-pounds.

The Blue Jays wrapped up their day by taking on #6 Delaware Valley. Delaware Valley won the first seven weight classes in the match. Fishel recorded his third win of the day with a 12-3 major decision over Vinny LaSelva at 184-pounds. Delaware Valley then wrapped up the match with wins in the final two weight classes.

Hopkins is back in action on Saturday, January 12 at the NWCA National Duals. Hopkins returns to Goldfarb Gymnasium on January 19 when the Blue Jays host a Centennial Conference Quad Match featuring Gettysburg, Muhlenberg and Ursinus.
