FT. LAUDERDALE, FL - The Johns Hopkins wrestling team went 1-2 on day two of the Citrus Invitational as the meet switched to a dual meet format. The Blue Jays dropped a 38-12 decision to #30 Bridgewater State before picking up a 31-15 win over Case Western. Hopkins concluded its action in Florida falling 22-20 to #16 Cornell College.

Three different Blue Jays went 3-0 on the day to lead the team. In the heavyweight class, Jonathan Freeman posted a 5-0 decision over Paul Fluery of Bridgewater and followed that up with a pin over Dwayne Williams of Case Western. Freeman concluded his action on the day with a 5-3 decision against Jason Edlund of Cornell. Sophomore Tyler Schmidt also went 3-0 for the Blue Jays on Saturday at 197, recording a 5-3 win over Anthony D'Amico of Bridgewater, a decision over Thomas Sanders of Case Western and a major decision over Josh Pastor from Cornell. Senior David Kraus started his action at 174 with an injury default win against Bridgewater. He followed that up with decisions over Nathan Klingensmith of Case Western and Reuben Zacharakis-Jutz of Cornell.

Senior Marco Priolo went 2-1 in Saturday's action at 141. Priolo dropped his match against Bridgewater's John Marsh as Marsh posted a major decision. Priolo then went on to post a decision over Jake Kornblatt of Case Western and an injury default win over Aaron Bingham of Cornell. Junior Eric Fishel also went 2-1 at 184 on the day for the Blue Jays. Fishel dropped a major decision to James Quinlan of Bridgewater to start his day. Fishel then picked up a decision over David Bernholt and a major decision over Andrew Smith of Cornell.
 

 

Hopkins returns to action on January 6th at the North South Duals. The duals will be hosted by Ursinus College and are set to begin at 10 a.m.
