Henrikson Named Southern Division Co-Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, PA - Johns Hopkins freshman goalie Erik Henrikson (Laguna Beach, CA/Laguna Beach) made a total of 16 saves and allowed 12 goals with one steal and two assists in a 4-0 weekend for the Blue Jays to garner a portion of the September 3 Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.
He played just over four quarters in his collegiate debut at the U.S. Naval Academy Navy Labor Day Open in helping Johns Hopkins knock off Gannon University (21-5 W), Mt. San Antonio College (24-12 W), Lindenwood University (20-3 W) and Cerritos College (18-9 W).
Henrikson played two quarters in the opener versus Cerritos and made seven saves with five goals allowed, while also swiping a steal and dishing out an assist. He made two saves in the win over Lindenwood during one half of play, while also seeing one quarter of action against Gannon with a save. He then closed out the weekend with six saves on three goals allowed with one assist in the win over Mt. San Antonio.
The award marks the first of his collegiate career as he shares the honor with George Washington University goalie Cameron Illes.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, September 8 at the Princeton Invitational, taking on #20 Brown (11:15 am) and #2 UCLA (9:15 pm).
