McCreery Repeats as Division III Player of the Year
Jan. 3, 2007 BREA, CA - Junior Sean McCreery (Pleasant Hill, CA/De La Salle) has been named the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Division III Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. In addition he earned First Team All-America honors. Sophomore Peter Davis (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) also earned All-America honors, being named to the second team. McCreery led the Blue Jays with 90 goals this season, surpassing his 2005 total of 82. He earned Most Valuable Player honors after leading Hopkins to its 10th Division III Eastern Championship on October 22. McCreery finished the season ranked third in the nation with 3.0 goals per game. Davis finished second on the team with a career-high 68 goals. He ranked 11th in the nation with 2.2 goals per game. Hopkins finished the season at 15-16 and ranked fourth in the final CWPA Division III poll. In addition to winning their third consecutive DIII Eastern Championship, the Blue Jays finished fifth at the ECAC Championships, fourth at the Southern Championships and sixth at the Eastern Championships.
