ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Johns Hopkins water polo team wrapped up an undefeated weekend at the Navy Invitational with wins over Forhdam (13-3) and Connecticut College (18-4). The Blue Jays have now won five straight and improve to 11-2 overall as they prepare for league play.

Senior Alex Whittam and freshman Kevin Yee led Hopkins with a hat trick apiece, while sophomore Johnny Beal totaled a match-high five points with one goal and four assists, as JHU beat Fordham to open play Sunday. Whittam also swiped four steals while Yee drew three ejections. Sophomore Danny Ovelar made nine saves with two steals while allowing just the three goals. The Blue Jays jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the Rams, who then cut the deficit in half by halftime. Hopkins responded by outscoring Fordham, 9-1, in the second half.

Hopkins wrapped up the weekend with a win over Connecticut College, led by hat tricks from Beal, senior Kielan Crow and freshman Blake Range. Freshman Langdom Froomer scored two goals and dished out three assists, while Yee had a goal and three helpers. Whittam grabbed five steals and sophomore Henry Pfleger and freshman Garrett Davidson each had three steals. Sophomore Jacob Dorn made six saves while allowing two goals in one quarter of action. Freshman Erik Henrikson made one save in three quarters and allowed two goals.

Hopkins returns to the pool and opens CWPA Southern Division play on Wednesday, September 19 as George Washington makes the short trip to Baltimore. The match is slated for a 7:30 pm start in the Newton White Athletic Center.
