BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team earned All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association this month. The Blue Jays posted a cumulative GPA of 3.360 for the 2007-08 school year, the sixth highest among the 57 teams recognized by the USTFCCCA.
A total of 57 Division III programs made up the men's 2008 All-Academic Teams. Haverford College led all institutions with a 3.461 team cumulative GPA. The Centennial Conference led all conferences with five teams selected as All-Academic Teams for 2008, followed closely by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin, the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the NWC with four team selections each.
The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year award is based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements, with the top honor going to the team that had the combination of best overall finish at the Division III Indoor or Outdoor National Championships and cumulative GPA.
To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative grade-point average.
