Bartnett Named Mideast Field Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, LA –Senior Andrew Bartnett was named the Mideast Region Men’s Field Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Tuesday night. Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches following a nomination period.

This is Bartnett’s first award for the outdoor season, though he has previously been named the Mideast Indoor Field Athlete of the Year twice. The senior is ranked third in the nation with a Decathlon score of 6625. Bartnett also ranks sixth nationally in the Pole Vault, clearing a height of 5.05m.

The St. Louis, MO, native will compete at the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday through Saturday. Bartnett will participate in the Decathlon Thursday and Friday, with events beginning with the 100 meter dash Thursday at 10:30 a.m., before seeking his fourth top-three finish in the outdoor Pole Vault championship Saturday at 12 p.m.
