NEW ORLEANS, LA - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recognized 13 members of the Johns Hopkins men’s outdoor track & field team as All-Mideast Region honorees, it was announced Monday.
To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top five of an individual event in the region according to the final TFRRS data or be a part of a top-three relay team.
Seniors Andrew Bartnett and Jesse Poore earned All-Region honors in two events, as Bartnett was honored for the pole vault and decathlon and Poore was recognized for the 400 meter dash and as a member of the 4x400 meter relay. Robert Dembinski, Alexander Mollick and Zach Shelley were also honored for the 4x400 meter relay.
Sophomore Grant Mosser also captured All-Region honors in two events, earning honors in the 400 meter hurdles and decathlon. Matt Fischetti, Ollie Hickson, Zach Jacobson and Matthew Su rounded out the Johns Hopkins All-Region selections. Fischetti was the third Blue Jay honored for the decathlon. Hickson was the lone distance runner recognized, earning honors for the 10,000 meter run. Jacobson captured All-Region honors for the discus throw, and Su was the lone freshman honored from JHU, earning All-Region recognition for the long jump.
Bartnett will participate in the pole vault and decathlon in the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 25, 26 and 27 in Geneva, OH.
