CARLISLE, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's track team is currently in ninth place, with 12 points after the first day of competition in the 2005 Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field Competition as hosted by Dickinson College. Haverford leads after the first day with 95 points. The meet will conclude tomorrow.

Junior Garrett Butler (Ridfeley, WV/Franfort) finished in third place in the pole vault with a leap of 13’6.5" to earn six points for the Blue Jays. Classmate Ted Esborn (Cleveland, OH/St. Ignatius) finished in eighth place and earned one point for JHU with a 12’0.5" mark. In the shot put, freshman Derrik Norgriff (Baltimore, MD/Loyola) posted a throw of 42’6.75" as he finished in seventh place, earning two team points.

The Blue Jays’ distance medley relay team finished in 10:51.67 to finish in sixth place and garner three team points. The 2005 Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field will conclude on Sunday afternoon at Dickinson.
