Robinson Leads Blue Jays at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's track & field team opened its indoor season at the Navy Invitational, Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays finished the day with seven top-10 finishes in their first meet of the season. Sophomore Max Robinson took home the highest finish for the Blue Jays with a third place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:15.00. Brett Schwartz (15:37.00) and Andrew Yen (15:40.74) finished seventh and eighth, respectively. Austin Stecklair rounded out the top-10 in the 5,000-meter run with a 10th place finish at 15:37.00. The Blue Jay 5x800-meter relay team comprised of Andrew Carey, Steve Hyland, Chris Corbett and John Corbett finished fourth with a combined time of 8:21.79. The Johns Hopkins distance medley finished fifth with a time of 10:51.19. The team consisted of Andrew Carey, Brendan Evans, Steve Hyland and Robert Farris. The Blue Jays also took sixth in the distance medely with a time of 10:53.63. The second team to finish for the Blue Jays was Ben Press, Shawn Buxton, Stephen Sihelnik and Andrew Ceruzzi.
Ryan Walsh tied for ninth in the high jump with a height of 1.84 meters. Paul Vozzo took 10th in the paul vault with a height of 3.90 meters. Brendan Evans took eighth in the long jump (6.31 meters) while Alex Jebb took fifth (13.90 meters) and Michael Spadaro (13.82) took sixth in the triple jump. The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team continue its 2011-12 campaign after the calendar turns over and the Blue Jays travel to New York City for the NYU Gotham Cup on January 13, 2012. |
