Jays Compete at Swarthmore Last Chance Meet

Andrew Carey put forth a season-best performance in the 800 meter run

SWARTHMORE, PA - In the last scheduled meet of the Johns Hopkins season, the Jays sent some track and field athletes to the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet in hopes of getting some NCAA qualifying performances.

Senior Andrew Carey put together a solid outing in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:51.94, a season-best for him. The time puts him inside the top-20 best times in the nation. Teammate Trevor Holmgren finished with a time of 1:53.23, keeping him just outside the top-20.

In the 5000 meter run, Panth Patel set a new personal-record with a time of 15:14.25. Meanwhile, teammate Akshay Alaghatta finished with a season-best clip of 15:27.49.

In the field events, Andrew Bartnett finished second after topping out at 5.20m (17-0.25) in the pole vault, while Michael Spadaro notched a 13.82m (45-4.25) mark in the triple jump. In the javelin throw, Tom Boucher marked a throw of 49.62m (162-9.00).
