Hopkins Finishes Third at Centennial Conference Outdoor Championship

GETTYSBURG, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team finished third at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championship. The meet was won by Haverford, who finished with 184 points. Gettysburg and Hopkins rounded out the top three. The Bullets finished with 156 points while the Blue Jays collected 115 points.
Nate Sotuyo finished third in the 800-meter run to lead the Blue Jays. He finished with a time of 1:56.84 in the race. The Blue Jays had three runners finish in the top eight in the 400-meter dash. Pierre Hage grabbed fourth place with a time of 51.02 while James Walker was fifth with a time of 51.19. Christo Tait was eighth after posting a time of 52.08.
Tristan Thomas broke the school record in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.83. Michael Palantoni took third in the javelin throw with a 52.19m in the finals. Palantoni also took fifth in the high jump with a 1.81m. With a toss of 14.43m, Peter Li finished second in the shot put.
The 4x100 relay team of Chris Cottrell, Walker, Hage and Thomas claimed second place with a time of 42.68. Steve Tobochnik and Patrick Brandon finished eighth and ninth respectively in the 5,000-meters. Tobochnik finished in 15:22.31 while Brandon posted a 15:32.10.
The Blue Jays wrap up their season on Monday, May 12 at the Tuppney Invitational.
