SWARTHMORE, PA – The Johns Hopkins men’s track team placed fifth at the 2010 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track Championships, which concluded on Sunday at Swarthmore College.  The Blue Jays totaled 91 points at the three-day championship to earn their fifth-place finish.  Dickinson became the first team other than Haverford to win the team title as the Red Devils broke the Fords’ 16-year stranglehold on the team championship.  Dickinson totaled 172 points to edge Haverford (142), while Muhlenberg (118), Ursinus (112) and Johns Hopkins rounded out the top five.

Highlighting JHU’s efforts on the final day was the 4x400-meter relay team of Chris Tait, Pierre Hage, James Walker and Gordan Mack, which clocked in at a school-record 3:21.91 to place second in the event.

Hopkins also scored well in the 4x100 relay with Tait, Hage, Walker and Jonathan Walker posting a season-best time of 43.54 to place fourth.

In addition to the relays, Hopkins got third place finishes in the shot put and high jump.  Ryan Lino’s toss of  46’7.25” was good for third in the shot, while Matt Stankiewicz’s jump of 6’00.75” earned him a third-place finish in the high jump.
